Windows Vista - Do Not Buy!

It really is just a very expensive face lift for XP. For the average user the noticeable pros are: a better looking (but not the best) graphical interface. Here are some cons:

- Uses much more system resources, all for the better looks (more RAM, CPU and graphical card cycles). These resources could be instead used to run your Office or web-browser faster

- Very expensive

- Conflicts with much of the existing hardware. Requires you to buy a new system. You can start by reading this BBC article

- Acts more like a beta version, that is: still has plenty of bugs and instabilities

Solutions:

(A) For most of us, the best solution for now is to stay with you XP/2000 for a long as you can. Eventually you will be forced to switch to Vista, because everyone around you will be using it and some of the formats will start becoming incompatible (like .doc or.xls files).

(B) For the revolutionary types out there who decide to break the vicious cycle the solution would be switching to Linux. There is even a movement to stop Windows Vista from spreading (check http://badvista.fsf.org). This video shows the cool visual effects you get for free in Ubuntu. With it you can still run your copy of XP in a window.

You decide. I personally will stick to option A for a while, because I rely on so many programs that run on XP. But over the course of last two year I have been slowly switching to free alternatives that run equally well both on Windows and Linux. This should make my transition easier, when (not if!) I decide to go with the option B.

Maybe you should do the same?

Gawd.... Windows *anything*

Gawd.... Windows *anything* can't shine the shoes of OSX. And the fact that you have to actually *buy* the OS when you buy your computer is a little silly!! What's your option? To run DOS?

Ahhh another article from

Ahhh another article from someone with no personal experence with Vista wanting to switch everyone to the savior which is Linux. Windows Vista works just fine. I have ran it for 2 months now, and had no hardware problems, no software problems, and games run smooth and crisp. Linux is a good OS, and is the only competitor to Windows, but until it takes a bigger share of the home computing market it will not shake Microsoft's hold. Macintosh runs FreeBSD 5.0 and Mach 3. Which means that it is a form of UNIX. Microsoft owns 20% of the company. It is not a competitor. It is an MP3 player. Get over it.

OSX sucks ass. Why do Apple

OSX sucks ass. Why do Apple people even try to say that OSX is good? Linux blows both Apple and Windows out of the water. Go to www.Ubuntu.com and see for yourself. I mean, at least Windows didn't just take Unix and start tweaking it and selling it at outrageous prices. Yeah, Apple is a Unix-Based system. They Suck. Can't even come up with something original. The only good thing Apple has ever done is GarageBand. you are so dumb guy above me. Computers you buy come with Windows already on it. just like any computer you buy from a store. Learn about computers before you say dumbass things. BTW, I have Vista, OSX, and Ubuntu 6.10. I have worked with computers for the last 13 years of my life. Vista has some flaws right now, but any fresh OS will. You Apple diehards can't deny that OS7,8, and 9 all sucked pretty bad. If you do then you are lying. Oh yeah, also.... I can run a computer with 2 GB ram, 250 GB Hard drive, 3.0Ghz processor, Nvidia GeForce 8800 video Card, and Vista Premium for $1000 less than a Mac Pro. Let's see you build your own Mac. Or even change the memory for that matter.

For One, Windows has not

For One, Windows has not owned a part of apple for 15 years. Two, OSX does suck and Vista sucks. Stay with your Windows XP or switch to one of the distributions of linux.
