In Dissecting humane treatment of farmed chickens: Part 1 we have elaborated on how it might be economically unfeasible to raise free range chickens. Now let us consider the following questions: Are organic chickens safer to eat than non-organic chickens? Or maybe more nutritious? Are these free-farmed chickens good for your health?

 Today, a n NPR podcast of Kitchen Window Episode #5: July 25, 2007 picked my curiosity. Amongst other points that were made, there was a well known argument presented: "chickens live in inhumane crammed up conditions at poultry farms". What is proposed instead? It sounded like a humane local farm with plenty of space to run around and peck bugs is a good alternative. So I did some web-search.
