Electronic mosquito repellents don't work
Submitted by ventagirl on Wed, 2007-04-18 09:20.One more thing found to be not working as claimed: electronic mosquito repellents that emit a high-pitched sound. A review of their use failed to find any evidence that they work. There was no difference in the number of mosquitoes on people with or without this device. Don't waste your money!

No vitamin C in drink
Submitted by ventagirl on Tue, 2007-03-27 15:21.Wikinews reports that GlaxoSmithKline was fined for a misleading advertising in New Zealand. For about 55 years the company advertised a blackcurrant-flavoured drink Ribena as being rich in vitamin C, with four times as much as oranges. Antioxidant supplements increase the risk of death
Submitted by ventagirl on Wed, 2007-02-28 20:31.Antioxidant was a buzz word for a while. Antioxidant supplements such as vitamin A or E were marketed as health improving substances. How many people are taking them? I used to take them every once in a while honestly believing that it'd help me stay fit and healthy. Not anymore. According to this release a systematic review of previous studies shows that beta carotene, vitamin A, and vitamin E significantly increase the risk of death. Unbelievable! read more »

Fruits are not sweet anymore
Submitted by ventagirl on Sun, 2007-02-18 20:41.How come most of the fruits that are supposed to be sweet are actually not sweet? Strawberry, kiwi, raspberry, blackberry, even watermelon are not sweet anymore. I want strawberry to be fleshy, juicy and sugary. Not firm and crispy. Same with watermelon. I have to coat strawberries in sugar because they are tasteless or sour without it. It seems that something is injected into the fruit to make it look ripe. You buy strawberry, which looks red but it tastes green. Do people get used to these tasteless fruits and stop noticing the difference?
Don't trust bagless vacuum cleaners!
Submitted by Anonymous on Tue, 2007-02-13 16:08.I bought one, thinking it would filter out more small particles. But when it is time to clean the can (and this time is usually every time) I am dissipating vast quantities of it just by brushing the filter! So, what's the point then?!!!

Why Are Dollar Store Products Made In Canada?
Submitted by bethchelle on Wed, 2006-09-27 16:09.I'm a frequent shopper at the Dollar Tree. Good deals can be found in a pinch: toilet paper, toothpaste, generic Advil, but, has anyone else noticed- the products stocked in these stores are almost ALL made in Canada? I have nothing against the country. However, in an age in which people struggle to pay for prescription medications, it's illegal for US residents to purchase said medications from Canada, where they are cheaper, yet, it's ok for us to buy Canadian Colgate and Toilet paper? I have a bottle of the generic advil beside me. read more »
