Since When Glasses Became A Luxury Item?
Submitted by Alex on Fri, 2009-04-24 10:22According to the medical dictionary nearly 35% of people have miopia (nearsightedness) and even more are suffering from other forms of poor vision. Glasses have been around since 13th century and still, 8 centuries past we are treating them as a luxury. How come to get a pair of decent looking glasses one has to pay $100-$300 and add another hundred for a checkup and prescription? What are they after all? Made of frigging diamonds?
Why Are Dollar Store Products Made In Canada?
Submitted by bethchelle on Wed, 2006-09-27 16:09I'm a frequent shopper at the Dollar Tree. Good deals can be found in a pinch: toilet paper, toothpaste, generic Advil, but, has anyone else noticed- the products stocked in these stores are almost ALL made in Canada? I have nothing against the country. However, in an age in which people struggle to pay for prescription medications, it's illegal for US residents to purchase said medications from Canada, where they are cheaper, yet, it's ok for us to buy Canadian Colgate and Toilet paper? I have a bottle of the generic advil beside me.
