This atricle in ComputerWorld just illustrates that there is not such thing as free pie. If you want fast and truly free internet (i.e. the tubes) someone has to step in. Maybe the U.S governemt can step in with a special "internet tax"? Or, I have a better idea, how about taking a tiny slice out of $1000000000000+ Iraq war money and paying for the fiberoptic infrastructure. read more »

Nah, this is not about recessing economy, it's about maths you stupid!!! How about decline of 0.58%, now that sounds like a number I can put to use. Half-percent ... sure, no problem! Monopolization of America

Perhaps it all started with the bold reliance on the Adam Smith's laws of economic self-regulation, but it certainly looks like the government has taken a back seat now. My claim is that in most business segments there is a duo- or tri-poly in USA, with two or three major companies dominating the market and having an easy time of making all sorts of illegal agreements that make them a virtual monopoly. read more »
