As it has been reported , Microsoft is releasing a new multi-touch display. The technology beyond is really exciting, but let me point out a few implementation related concerns:
1) Why do they need the cameras? If you want to copy pictures to your wireless digicam, just place it on the table and as it connects, simply display a camera-like icon on the screen. Seems like a bit of an overkill to place five cameras in there, which increases the price-tag, makes it bulky and prohibits applications where the darn thing can be placed on the wall, etc.
2) Sticky fingers? All this touching and groping.... ahh.. shouldn't it leave lots of greasy stains behind? How about a built in Windex sprinkler with a wiper system (my copyright).
3) Limited applications. So, you have invested $10K into this new gizmo and all you can do is resize photos with your fingers (mouse wheel worked for me) and drag Google maps around. Anything else, Microsoft?
