Frequently Asked Questions

What is 43vents.com?
43vents.com is a social networking website that allows users to post their gripes and complaints. You can write about whatever annoys you or browse other peoples' posts and profiles to see that you are not alone. Let your negative emotions out and connect to other disgruntled folks.

Why would I want to post here?
How many times did you feel a need to give vent to your feelings but couldn't do it because it was inappropriate? Sometimes friends, spouses, colleagues or mere strangers annoy us so much that we want to scream. Generally, this is considered socially unacceptable. Yet we all need it from time to time. What can you do? Breathe slowly, count to ten, scream into a pillow? We have a better idea. Why not let your negative emotions out into the cyberspace? Use 43vents.com to vent your feelings. Change your negative energy into words, share with others and see if it helps. Anytime you feel annoyed, frustrated or angry, come to 43vents.com and just vent, vent, vent.

Why is it called 43vents.com?
We've been trying to come up with a fancy name that sounds nice, is short, and gives an idea of what this site is about. Most of the names were not available (see our vent), so instead of choosing a long weird name we decided to add numbers to the most important word - "vent". Going through different numbers, we remembered cool websites 43things.com, 43people.com and 43places.com and thought "Why not 43?" 43 can be the number for daily, weekly, monthly or yearly vents. But you don't have to stick with it, it is just a number. The opportunity to vent as often as you want is more important.

Who is behind 43vents.com?
We are three PhD students with different majors (computer science, economics and information science) who once felt the urge to have a hobby we all can share. As we thought about possible projects, the idea of online venting came along. We are busy people but we will try to make this site the best place to share your feelings.

Do I need to register to start posting?
No, it is not necessary to register to comment on stories, however if you would like to post a story that would appear on the front page, please register with your email address. We understand that you may want to write about sensitive issues, so we decided to allow anonymous commenting. However, if you want to be a part of this venting community, keep track of your posts, create a buddy list and view other users' profiles, and rate others' posts, you can register. It's quick, easy and free.

Technical problem with the website?
If you would like to report a problem please email us at webadmin@43vents.com describing what went wrong. We will try to investigate and fix it immediately.
