How credit card companies rip you off!

As I logged in to my Discover card online acconut to make a payment I noticed the usual calendar gadget missing. See, I used to schedule my payment for the last day possible, without incurring any fees (usually the 25th of the month). My reasoning was "why let them use my money for a month if I can do it myself?" right?

Today I find out that the bastards have removed the calendar to replace it with this:

calendar

How nice, if you click "continue..." button, the payment will be sent to them immediately!!! and only if you click "revise" it will take you to the calendar. Trifle - some of you may say, but let me illustrate.

Say, on the 25th of January you get your statement with the balance of $5000 and you go online to schedule a payment. Normally (unless you are one of those credit accumulating 30% APR average americans) you would pay it in full to avoid any fees. And *normally* you would schedule it for February, 25th , that is the latest date possible. Now, with the new layout some people will just click "continue" and make the payment 30 days earlier thus giving Discover your 5 grand for a month for free! Let's say you put it into your checking account (eTrade pays 5% APY on these), so you get 5000*0.05 = 250. That's $250 of your hard-earned bucks you are giving away to some company that makes living by putting people into a financial slavery anyway! How stupid is that?

Don't you ever do it again! Is that clear?!
